Artifact Exhibit

This exhibit is comprised of items that were commonly found in the homes and businesses of the Chinese, Italian, and British "Remittance Man" inhabitants of the Kootenays. Artifacts such as those featured here can tell you a great deal about the people who owned them, from Chinese tastes in food to an Italian miner's safety equipment to a Remittance Man's love of hunting.

Unless otherwise indicated, all displayed artifacts are from Fort Steele Heritage Town's permanent collection. We would like to thank the Royal British Columbia Museum, Fernie and District Historical Society and the Crowsnest Museum for allowing images of their artifacts to be featured in this presentation.
