Wasa Hotel Museum Fort Steele Image

This building is a “must see” for museum aficionados. On both floors of the Wasa Hotel you’ll find museum exhibits revealing detailed histories of the East Kootenay region and Fort Steele. Displays address specific areas of interest such as multiculturalism & racism, mining and the Ktunaxa First Nation. This building also houses Fort Steele’s archives, library, and information collections, which are available to researchers by appointment.

The building itself, built in 1965, is a replica of one of East Kootenay's most famous hostelries, The Wasa Hotel. The town of Wasa is about 20 minutes north of Fort Steele – in a modern vehicle!
